Park River is a city in Walsh County, North Dakota in the United States. The population was 1,403 at the 2010 census.[1] Park River was founded in 1884.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,535 people, 660 households, and 390 families residing in the city. The population density was 772.6 people per square mile (297.8/km²). There were 760 housing units at an average density of 382.5 per square mile (147.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.57% White, 0.07% African American, 1.63% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 1.56% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.61% of the population.

There were 660 households out of which 27.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.9% were married couples living together, 8.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.8% were non-families. 38.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.88.

In the city the population was spread out with 22.1% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 20.9% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 28.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 87.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $30,347, and the median income for a family was $40,000. Males had a median income of $26,154 versus $20,769 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,990. About 6.8% of families and 7.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.1% of those under age 18 and 7.2% of those age 65 or over.
